Between November 12 and 16, the 46th National Skills Competition “SkillsPortugal Norte 2024” (Worldskills Portugal) took place in Santa Maria da Feira, under the theme: “Where there is competence, there is a North.”
After making it through the preliminary stages of pre-selection and regional competition with flying colors, our employee Mafalda Lopes ended up winning the bronze medal in the Business Computer Application Development category, out of 11 contestants from various regions from the north to the south of our country.
Mafalda completed her professional training as a Technical Specialist in Information Systems Technology and Programming (CET) at the Seixal Professional Training Service (IEFP, I.P.) in 2023. In the meantime, she completed her final internship (Vocational Training in the Workplace) at Qloudyx where, after a superlative performance evaluation, she has since joined our team of professionals.
What is WORLDSKILLS PORTUGAL?
The Worldskills Portugal structure is part of the Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional, I.P. (IEFP, I.P.), which represents Portugal at WorldSkills Europe and WorldSkills International. IEFP, I.P. is also responsible for organizing and holding the Professions Championship at national level and for representing Portugal at international championships.
These competitions are aimed at young people between the ages of 17 and 25, who have completed or are currently studying for a qualification in vocational education and training. They aim to demonstrate the individual level of skills, rigor and mastery of techniques and tools for practicing each profession in the competition, through practical performance tests assessed according to demanding criteria and internationally established technical prescriptions by juries made up of highly qualified experts (trainers, professionals, entrepreneurs).
The aim of these championships, which are intended to be widely attended, is to gauge the effectiveness of the professional training provided by the different operators and, at the same time, to induce factors of increasing quality, innovation and creativity in the teaching-learning processes.
The Championships take place every 2 years and bring together the top scorers in the pre-selection phase, who compete against each other for the title of national champion in each profession.
